Purple Tuesday

Ask your local shops to make a commitment to improving access. This could be through implementing the hidden disability sunflower lanyard scheme, or supporting customers with sensory needs with formal quiet hours.

Purple Tuesday is all about improving the customer experience for disabled people 365 days a year.  The awareness day takes place on the first Tuesday of November.  This year on Tuesday 2nd November, however, it is relevant to organisations of all sizes from all sectors throughout the whole year.

#PurpleTuesday is about creating improvement in the awareness of the value and needs of disabled customers. It is about making the customer experience accessible. Participating organisations will make public commitments (a minimum of one new activity or initiative) to ensure sustainable changes are made.

Did you know?

In the UK alone, the #PurplePound (the spending power of disabled people and their families) is worth a staggering £274 billion.  Less than 10% of organisations have a plan to access the disability market. This is a huge missed opportunity for organisations and is frustrating for disabled people.

How to get involved

As a Disability Confident Leader we support Purple Tuesday by encouraging local organisations to improve access to their services.

Why not do the same?

Ask your local shops to make a commitment to improving access. This could be through implementing the hidden disability sunflower lanyard scheme, or supporting customers with sensory needs with formal quiet hours.
