The Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) Service is part of the Devon Advocacy Consortium, commissioned by Devon County Council to provide a high quality advocacy service across Devon and Torbay.
The Paid Representative’s role is to support, represent and advocate for people who have been assessed as being deprived of their liberty, in situations where there are no family or friends who can undertake this role. Paid Representatives are required to work in accordance with the MCA Code of Practice and The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice.
We are looking for an experienced paid representative with:
- A good understanding of the principles of advocacy;
- Experience of working with people who have a range of disabilities and communication problems; and
- A good working knowledge in areas of Safeguarding, Mental Capacity, Mental Health or other relevant speciality
