Deaf Get Active and Volunteer

We aim to increase participation in sport / activity in the local Deaf community through volunteer-based peer support and online resources.

The Deaf Get Active and Volunteer team work with Deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users and local sport / activity providers to improve accessibility and increase participation in sport and physical activity in the local Deaf community.

We aim…

  • To increase participation in sport / activity in the local Deaf community through volunteer-based peer support and online resources.
  • Improve accessibility and address some of the barriers to participation through the provision of Deaf Awareness and British Sign Language training to local sports /activity providers.

Interested in volunteering with us?

We are looking for volunteers who are interested in being active and helping others be more active. By volunteering, you get to learn new skills, encourage others and try something new.

Accessible Fitness Activities

We share a vast range of accessible fitness activities, either subtitled and / or in BSL for both Deaf and non deaf people who may also have a disability or long term health condition.  These can all be viewed on our YouTube page and we regularly share fitness sessions on our Facebook.

Are you a local sport / activity provider

We would love to hear from you if you would like to get involved with the project and make your organisation more accessible to Deaf BSL users. We offer training, advice and resources. If you are interested, get in touch with the team deafgetactive@livingoptions.org
