Help and Support

Deaf Get Active and Volunteer

Get Active with us or support others to get into sport through volunteering.

Tennis players

We are here to support your health and wellbeing, having an active body and a healthy mind. Now more than ever we are encouraging you to stay active! It may be walking the dog, going for a run, boxing, yoga or meditation.

We aim to bridge communication and communities, inspiring everyone in Devon to volunteer, communicate and get active and have partnered together with Active Devon and Sport England, to provide you with motivational activities across a range of sports and communities.

Welcoming Deaf and Non-Deaf People

The project welcomes enthusiastic Deaf and Non-Deaf people to help get more Deaf people active.

By volunteering, you get to learn new skills, encourage others and try something new. There are lots of different volunteering roles. These include:

  • Activity Champions
  • Coaches/buddies
  • Social media support
  • Filming BSL (British Sign Language) videos
  • Steering Group meeting representatives

We love to see how you are keeping positive and moving, why not share what you are doing with us and help us motivate our followers. Send us your photos, videos or email/message us telling us what you have been up to, or tag us in using the hashtag #DeafGetActive

To help with this we have a Timetable of online Deaf Friendly Activities.  Why not try something new and let us know how you get on.

“Definitely feeling more fit and healthy and enjoy it being Deaf-friendly. Nice sense of community and friendship in this group.”
