We support you to find solutions to the day to day problems you experience because of your sight or hearing loss, including advice and support for Tinnitus.
Sensory Loss Equipment Advice
The sight and hearing team will carry out an informal consultation with you and advice on the equipment which might improve how you hear or how you read and see. The team have lots of different equipment and tools for sight and hearing loss, such as magnifiers and adapted telephones, they can demonstrate these to you and you can ‘try before you buy’.
Skills for Seeing
Macular conditions, such as age-related macular degeneration or juvenile dystrophies, cause loss of central vision. Skills for seeing training can help you to use your vision more effectively. Learning new ways of seeing can help with reading, taking care of yourself, getting about and watching TV. We have trained staff skilled in teaching two techniques which can help you use your vision more effectively. Please contact us for more information.
Sensory Loss Training
The team also provide one to one training for people with sight or hearing loss on using a smartphone, computer or tablet so that you maintain your confidence and independence as your sight and hearing deteriorate. Please contact us for more information.

The See Hear Centre becomes Living Options Northern Devon
Our sight and hearing loss support and advice team are now based in Roundswell Community Centre, Barnstaple, as part of our Northern Devon hub. The team provide advice and support not just on sensory loss but also free, confidential, advice and information helpline to help you maintain your independence, confidence and wellbeing.
Usually, the centre is open on Tuesdays, 9am – 5pm. During the pandemic we have been offering support online, over the telephone and by email. We will be offering face to face appointments on Tuesdays. To arrange this please contact us today, we will determine if a face to face appointment is required.
