Accessible Trails at Glen Lynn Gorge

Published 20th October 2021, in News & Updates, Uncategorised

Neil our Countryside Mobility project manager and Steff of HCT Turf visited Glen Lyn Gorge in September. This particular partner site was the recipient of a refurbished all-terrain mobility scooter or ‘tramper’. Thanks to the money raised from our joint summer photo competition #ILoveMyGarden.

Glen Lyn Gorge is near the mouth of the River Lyn near Lynmouth on Exmoor. A number of steep paths lead to waterfalls and viewing areas with great views into the gorge, across Lynmouth, and over to the Welsh coast. It is, therefore, no surprise that the gorge would be inaccessible for a range of people if it were not for the tramper.

Giving the tramper a spin

Steff’s mum Rosemary was the first to take the newly refurbed tramper for a spin. Glen Lynn Gorge owner Matthew was on hand to describe the two routes, how to use the tramper, and points of interest along the way. Rosemary really enjoyed accessing the viewing areas and despite the rain, we all enjoyed discovering this beautiful location together. For more information on Glen Lynn Gorge and how to book a tramper visit the website here.

Thank you for your support

A massive thank you to HCT Turf for hosting the garden photo competition, and to all of you who submitted a photo of your beautiful gardens. You helped us raise funds to refit the tramper at Glen Lyn Gorge. We hope to return in 2022 with the #ILoveMyGarden photo competition. You can find out more about this fundraiser, including the 2021 winner on the HCT Turf website.
