Published 27th June 2022, in Blog, News, News & Updates

Get Yourself Active aims to increase Disabled people’s participation in sport and physical activity so that everyone can experience its benefits.

Get Yourself Active is an activity programme run by the leading national user-led pan-disability charity Disability Rights UK. Living Options Devon is a member organisation of the Disability Rights UK Our Voices group, helping to shape their policy and campaign work.

Get Yourself Active works collaboratively with charities that include Living Options, communities, and grassroots organisations across the sports sector to drive positive change for and with Disabled people.

Get Yourself Active want to break down barriers so that every Disabled person can find ways to get active in their local area in a way that is right for them. Disabled people have a right to get active, and we want everyone to have the chance to feel good and have fun wherever they are.

getyourselfactive.org is a new website from Disability Rights UK where you can access guides about a wide range of activities such as beginner exercise, seated exercise, yoga, cardio-vascular exercise, team sports, and many others.

Get Yourself Active said about Living Options Devon:

“They have contributed to a lot of our learning and evaluation on the TIF project and given us a deeper insight into the barriers that the Deaf community faces in getting active. They were also one of the Disabled People’s User Led Organisations (DPULOs) that contributed to Sport England’s consultation on the Uniting the Movement Strategy.”

Get Yourself Active says:

“We love working with others to ensure that Disabled people can get active and have fun wherever they are. We believe that together with others we can centre Disabled people’s voices to change lives for the better.”
