We know how important keeping active has been to you during the pandemic. Being active is so important in helping us maintain balanced wellbeing, keeping us connected, motivated, and healthy.

5K Your Way – Accessible Activities

Our Keep Active team is very excited to be launching two accessible guides to help you get active and keep active this spring. The Strive for 5 and Couch to 5K Your Way are self-guided programs aimed at fitness beginners and those looking to improve their fitness. Strive for 5 is an 8-week guide to successfully completing a 5K walk, which you adapt it to meet your needs and fitness goals. The Couch to 5K Your Way is a 9-week guide, going from zero fitness to running 5K. The team has adapted videos to make the program more accessible by adding subtitles and British Sign Language translation.

Getting Started

Each week starting on Monday 8th March the Keep Active team will be sharing that week’s guide to reaching 5K. Remember our team suggests you adapt the guides to meet your current fitness needs. Perhaps you want to build your exercise up an extra 5 minutes each week or wheel an extra 500 yards. You set your targets and the team will inspire you each week to keep focused and achieve your goals.

You can take part in improving your fitness at home, the team share seated exercises and exercises to do at home on their Youtube channel and social media channels. They will also be giving away 50 copies of their new fitness DVD. Follow us on social media for a chance to register for your copy.
