Are you finding Christmas difficult?

Christmas is a time of year when we are expected to be joyful and sociable, spending time surrounded by family and friends. For many of of us though, Christmas can be a particularly difficult time.

This might be because of the extra pressure at home, financial strain, family tension or feelings of loneliness. Or we may struggle with painful memories of past Christmases or the loss of a loved one which feels even more raw when faced with images of happy families enjoying time together.

If this resonates with you, please kind and gentle with yourself. You are important and remember these feelings will pass.

Please also remember that you are not alone. Reaching out to others is so important and can help enormously.

There is always mental health support available if you need it. The following organisations are available over the Christmas period:

Samaritans (open 24/7) 116 123

Headspace (6pm til midnight) 07890 257614

National Suicide Prevention Helpline (6pm til midnight) 0800 6895652

We have a page with organisations offering further support over the Christmas period that you may find useful.
